Just another post about me messing around with the Creation Kit and Papyrus and utterly failing. Miserably. (But then fixing it.)
So recently, I decided to get a new computer from XoticPC, since I've heard they make great computers, are highly customizable, and have fantastic service. (Tell me in the comments if they don't.) So I backed up all my modding stuff on email and Dropbox and Mediafire (though it was so big I couldn't really backup all of it in Dropbox), and on a hard-drive. I started borrowing somebody's computer. I've installed the CK and Skyrim and such, but I didn't want to mess around too much with my mod because that would mean reuploading everything. (Guess what? I did it anyway.)
Sometime along the line I decided that writing mod reviews, helping people on the Nexus Forums that I frequent the most (Mod Talk), was not enough. I tried to think of something to mod, or create, but I couldn't think of anything suitably small. And then I decided to review a mod. (Arissa the Wandering Rogue - the review will be out soon!)
I was taking screenshots left and right, because there were some new dungeons and lots of interesting stuff in the mod. And because I wanted to actually play the mod, and take screenshots that looked pretty (no menus crowding out the scenery), I kept opening up the console and typing "tm" (toggle menu). Even worse, sometimes I would have to open up Skyrim's settings to change the HUD Opacity, and then change it back. (So I could still use the wait menus and inventory menus.)
And so I decided to design a mod to fix this problem. One that could toggle your HUD on and off quickly and easily - with the tap of a key. So I searched around the Nexus and Google looking for a mod to do this, but I didn't find any. Which made me slightly worried, since there have been requests for something like this in the past, and there's a mod for almost everything on the Nexus.
What was I worried about? That it was impossible (which I knew it wasn't - just look at iHUD) or extremely difficult.
So I began the scripting process, reading about the MCM and learning a lot of stuff. When I finally created my script, it wouldn't compile because certain functions weren't recognized.
I reinstalled SKSE, because I knew it was a common problem for SKSE source scripts not to be installed, which causes them to be unusable in scripting. I ran over to the Forums and asked for help, and got it quite quickly. But it was one of those posts that was like:

What exactly is your problem?
Which was completely valid since my question had basically been "Hey, my script isn't compiling." And then I saw a post on LoversLab (which can have extremely valuable scripting help - it's not all about sex), that said I should reinstall SKSE with the 7zip version, not the installer. I did so and... Voila! It was fixed.
Moral of the story: Look stuff up before you ask for help.
